A documentary about the clothes we wear, and about the people who make them and the impact that the textile industry has on our world.
The consumption of clothes has increased enormously in the last 20 years (by 400%). This is also because clothing in recent years has been getting cheaper for us. But who pays the price?
The director Andrew Morgan decided to show the impact of the production of fashion after the collapse of the textile factory Rana Plaza. He shows the working conditions of workers in Cambodia and Bangladesh who barely earn enough despite overlong working days to feed themselves and their families. He interviewed cotton farmers in Texas who have become ill through the massive use of pesticides. And he shows the ecological problems the fast fashion - the rapid change and high consumption - creates with its massive use of resources.
But he also shows alternatives.
The Bremen group of the Clean Clothes Campaign and fairtragen show the documentation on Wednesday, October 7th at 8pm in the Karton, Am Deich 86, 28199 Bremen.
Admission is free - donations welcome.
